Overview
Protovid was a hardware monitoring project developed during the COVID-19 period. It combined proximity and temperature sensing with immediate feedback from embedded hardware.
Problem and context
The system explored whether local sensors could make two conditions visible in real time: unsafe proximity under two meters and elevated-temperature readings.
What was built
- Distance sensing for proximity monitoring.
- Temperature sensing.
- Arduino-based processing.
- Visual and audible alerts.
- Real-time sensor feedback.
Technical approach
The Arduino read the available distance and temperature sensors, evaluated the configured thresholds, and activated local visual or audible alerts when a threshold was crossed.
Protovid was an embedded monitoring prototype. It is not presented as a medical device, a diagnostic system, or evidence of medical validity.
